Match report for Stanwix

Following the last game against Edenvale and the ball not falling lucky with both the post and side net being struck. This week saw a new refreshed squad chasing their first win of the season. All the boys played tremendously, Rhys Ellis captained the game and led the first half squad to a first goal by Ben Purdham, who controlled the ball and took on several players to secure the ball in the back of the net. Again technique clicked with the boys as they moved the ball up the field , while maintaining a strong defensive line, allowing Ben to score his 2nd goal before halftime. It was good to see the team enjoying this early lead as did the supporters. Back on for 2nd half, saw a little hiccup as Stanwix attacked strongly and beat the defence and scored their only goal of the game. The Whites responded with a further 3 goals, 2 from Luke Docker and 1 from Jack Graham. The players supported each other through the temporary injuries that occurred, nothing serious thankfully. Hopefully the tide has turned and the boys will continue to play as a team. From defending through to mid-field to attacking, all players have vastly improves and games like this prove it - Well Done Lads

It was good to hear the boy s congratulating each other after the game and supporting my nomination for Man of the Match which went to Ben Purdham.

Goals Ben Purdham (2), Luke Docker (2), Jack Graham (1)

23/01/10 CARLISLE CITY U7 WHITES V DALSTON JBR U7

After several weeks without a match due to the snow and ice, CC U7 Whites returned to action against Dalston JBR. Both teams were very happy to be playing again and they produced a very entertaining and evenly matched game. The Whites gave one of their best performances of the season.

In the first half there were several chances for both teams and it was only some excellent goalkeeping and some last gasp defending from both teams that kept the score 0-0.

Midway through the second half Dalston took the lead with a well finished goal. The Whites fought right to the end to score what would have been a well deserved equaliser. In the very last minute Man of the Match Jack Graham hit the post with a good shot but it was not meant to be and Dalston held on to win 1-0.

Everyone in the Whites team played very well. All those Tuesday night training sessions must be working!!!!

31st Oct - Stanwix (Draw 2-2)

City Whites were led by Kieran, who started the game outfield as a midfielder. Whites during the 1st half showed team spirit as they played as a unit, only being broken once when Stanwix managed to steal the first goal. This drove the determination of the defence, both Alex and Jack closed the net and didn't allow any further opposition through during the remaining 1st half. Alex took ownership of the ball, controlled it and moved it creating opportunities for Ben and Luke D. Both Ben and Luke D captailised on this both scored their first goals of the season. Taking City into HT with a 2-1 lead. During second half Jack made many chances for Luke A, Jake and Hayden, but Stanwix's GK was proving challenging to beat. In the last few minutes of the game Jack managed to strike the ball on target and before it travelled over the goal line, the referee halted play for an injury. Unlucky for Jack, Unlucky for City. The game ended in a draw, 2-2. However this was the right decision made by the referee for a head injury, regardless of the GK being a child.

All players can be proud of themselves as they have showed huge and consistent improvements since the start of the season. Most improved player for this game needs to spread 4 ways for Alex, Ben, Jack and Luke D. Well done City Whites!

17th Oct - Morton Manor (Lost 5-0)

This home game was captained by Alex, who led by displaying some useful tackles to hold up the opposition.

From KO the Whites struggled to get the ball out of their half, making a tough game. Manor always appeared threatening with both Hayden and Keiran doing their best at trying to stop the the ball crossing the goal line.

Team formation disappeared very early into the game, with all Whites chasing the ball like a pack of hounds chasing a fox. As spectators we have to remember that this is what we expect from such young players. Morton were the stronger team getting the finishes which allowed them to win 5-0.

Once again Luke A stepped up his performance and played an outstanding 30 minutes both in goals and outfield.

10th Oct - Harraby Catholic

Whites met Harraby at Keenan Park, captained by Sol who started the game with good gamesmanship and a performance to match. Harraby were strong opponents and got an early lead with 3 goals. Hayden brought hope for the Whites by scoring not only our first goal of the Season, but an away one. Going into halftime Harraby were leading 4-1.

After substitutions and a switch of Keepers, the Whites fought with Rhys demonstrating good initiative and creating opportunities for the midfield and strikers. 2nd half Keeper Luke held back a barrage of shots from Harraby, minimising the final score line to 7-1 to Harraby. This was a tough game, against good opponents and saw the Whites first goal of the season. Let's hope this starts the goal run. Well Done Lads.

29th Sept.- Whites home game against visitors Dalston JBR was a well balanced game with both teams displaying commitment. Hayden captained the Whites ( the slightly stronger team), but the team were unfortunate not to start a tally, even after a few free kicks. The first half ended with Dalston getting a trickle over the goal line, allowing them to start the second half with a 1-0 lead.

With fresh players on the pitch and a range of tackles, clearances quick breaks and runs, the ball wouldn't get through the posts for the Whites.

Most improved players of the game were Luke D for his control and pace demonstrated throughout the second half. Also Thomas for his improved accuracy with passing and overall improvement.

19th Sept - CCFC Reds - Luke A. captained the team against their school classmates. The score of 9-0 didn't reflect the City Whites performance. Tackling was stronger and general awareness was much more focussed, the whole team had stepped up their performance. Players coped well with substitution arrangements and on return to the pitch refreshed demonstrated commitment you would expect from older players. Two of City Whites, Ben and Alex, both demonstrated improved ability from start to finish, indicating both concentration has increased and enjoyment.

Chris also had has first match to referee and managed both teams very well, offering both Whites and Reds sound help and advice.

12th Sept – Cotehill Crusaders – After missing the season’s first fixture to a water logged pitch, Carlisle City U7s Whites were ready for their first home game. Jack Graham led the team as they battled against the Crusaders at the Sheepmount.

All 12 in the squad did their best and improved their team working and passing techniques throughout the game. Unfortunately The Crusaders were a stronger side and the result at full time was in Crusaders favor, 0 – 5. Both teams demonstrated fair play and good gamesmanship. Jake Ashbridge was City U7 White’s most improved player of the match.
