Cotehill & Cumwhinton U8 0 - 2 Carlisle City

The boys had one of their best performances of the season so far at Wetheral on Saturday against a good Cotehill team!
The first five minutes were slightly worrying during which the home team had City pinned in their own first third of the pitch however they sorted themselves out and began battling for the ball. Man of the match Declan McArdle had an absolute blinder in defence with the little man making sure no one got past him before playing some lovely balls through to the mid field.
City`s first goal came five minutes before the break when Liam McNulty used his strength to play a lovely ball through to Nathan Yielder who had everything to do to stay ahead of the defender before slotting it past the keeper.
The second half saw the same fully committed hard working team get what they deserved, a second goal! This time Thomas Atkinson`s desire to win a tackle and then have a shot saw the keeper make a good save however Yielder was in the right place to pick up the resulting loose ball and calmly knock it into the goal.
The whole team had a great game with Romano Renucci, Badger Robinson and Dylan Graham having games of note!

Kingstown U8 4 - 0 Carlisle City

City played a very good Kingstown side on Saturday morning who had two excellent forwards who punished us every time we gave them half an inch.
To be fair the boys didn't play their best game of the season and it took the them the first fifteen minutes to wake up by which time they were already 4 goals down.
A half time change about saw man of the match Harry Parsons come on into mid field. The boys played a much better second half with chances of their own coming their way but could not finish the moves off.
Hats off to Kingstown and just a bad day at the office for the City boys which they will learn from!

Carlisle City U8 2 - 2 Calthwaite

An equalising goal literally in the last seconds of the game gave Calthwaite a share of the points on Saturday morning!
This was a very good game which was enjoyed by everyone watching it between two evenly matched good sides who liked passing the ball about. City started on top and for the first 10 minutes it was all City. This pressure paid off with a lovely move down the right wing by man of the match James Lee Reynolds who put in a great cross to Callum Hanna who finished it well with his 5th goal of the season.
Calthwaite then got back into the game and had chances of their own. Declan McArdle and Badger Robinson had a great game in defence and prevented Calthwaite progressing towards their goal time after time. Unfortunately Calthwiate managed to find a gap and scored their well taken equaliser.
In a similar move for the first goal Lee took the ball down the right wing putting in another good cross which this time fell to Nathan Yielder who placed it past the keepers out stretched left hand were it hit the post and went into the back of the net.
The second half was evenly matched but Calthwaite did enough to snatch a goal at the end of the 15 minutes.
A draw was probably the fairest result on the day but it was still had to swallow when the whistle blew after the restart from the goal!

Abbeytown U8 2 - 2 Carlisle City

City played a side that had beaten them 3 times out of their previous 4 games and the writing was on the wall again when the boys found themselves two goals down after only 5 minutes. The midfield were playing too high up the field which meant that high balls into the defence left City`s defenders at the mercy of Longtown`s two excellent forwards who were fast and skilful on the ball. With a coople of minutes to the half time break Thomas Atkinson played in one of his testing corners which struck a defender at the front post on its way into the back of the net.

Half time sorted the midfield problem and the boys played a really good second half and were unlucky not to score more than just their equaliser. This came from a really good move involving several players. James Lee Reynolds had the final ball and struck an excellent right footed shot beating the Abbeytowns keeper in the top left corner of the net. Man of the match Liam McNulty had another solid performance in midfield and is being recognised by the opposition managers by his identifiable haircuts (last of the Mohicans!).

The home side were very unlucky not to score their third goal when their forward took a shot miles outside City`s area which was flying into the top right corner but at the last minute swerved striking the post and then going out for a throw!

All in all a very well fought and fairly played game by two good sides.

Carlisle City U8 2 - 1 Edenvale Harriers

City got back to their winning ways on Saturday with a well deserved victory against a well organised Edenvale side.
The first half saw City score both their goals with only a couple of minutes gap between them. The first came from Callum Hanna who`s shot on goal ricocheted off the post, striking a defender on its way into the net. Shortly afterwards City were awarded a free kick outside the box. James Lee Reynolds stepped up to the plate and struck an excellent free kick which beat the keeper to his top left!
The second half was a closer game with Edenvale piling on the pressure. Man of the Match Romano Renucci was solid in midfield and deserved the recognition for his hard work.
Edenvale maintained the pressure and were rewarded with a goal of their own half way through the second period. City were unlucky themselves with two shots hitting the post.
An excellent game by both sides!

Stanwix U8 2 - 1 Carlisle City

City lost their second game of the season at Belah community centre on Saturday morning when they met a very strong Stanwix team. The first half was evenly matched with City failing to take advantage of the chances that came their way. Man of the match Dylan Graham had a great game in goals and kept City in the game up to half time.
Half time saw 4 substitutes enter the pitch, that's practically a full outfield squad under the 6 a side rule, which unsettled the team. Stanwix scored shortly after the whistle was blown with a second coming minutes after the opener. Graham continued his good performance and prevented Stanwix scoring a number of times. Hats off to City they kept battling and were rewarded when Thomas Atkinson took a corner only to find it come back out to him as he ran towards the box. He immediately took a shot at a very narrow angle and the ball sneaked over the line. Unfortunately there was not enough time left on the clock to build on the goal.
The difference between both teams was strength on and off the ball and that will come with time!
All in all a really good game of football!

Carlisle City U8 1-2 Northbank

City`s run of 7 unbeaten games came to an end on Sunday morning at the Sheepmount when they met a big strong Northbank team.
The sky blues were without defender Harry Parsons and arguably the best keeper in the division Dylan Graham but stand in keepers Thomas Atkinson (man of the match) and Nathan Yielder, who shared a half each, did the team proud with their performances.
Northbank scored their first goal in the first period during a very closely fought match but City got their equaliser seconds before half time when Liam McNulty struck a bullet outside the keepers area which saw the ball fly past everyone into the left corner of the net!
The second half saw the same closely matched game continue with chances going to both teams. The match decider came from Northbank who caught City`s defence sleeping with a ball over their heads and a Northbank forward running through and slotting the ball into the back of the net.
City were really unlucky not to get one back again with 3 shots striking either the uprights or cross bar.
The boys came off disappointed but they should remember that this Northbank team thumped them last season, they were without two key players and had the goals been inches bigger they would have scored those 3 shots!

Longtown U8 0 - 8 Carlisle City

City travelled to Longtown on Saturday morning and played on a very narrow pitch! The managers worries that this would help Longtown were dismissed after only a couple of minutes when James Lee Reynolds scored his 10th goal of the season followed quickly by man of the match Nathan Yielder with another 2. Thomas Atkinson kept his form up by scoring one for himself making it 2 in 2 games. Half time substitutes saw Callum Hanna come onto the field who instantly made an impact scoring himself twice. Liam McNulty was again solid in mid field and finished the game off with 2 goals for himself.
City`s defence were again very good with Harry Parsons, Callum (Badger) Robinson and Declan McArdle not allowing much past them and it beggars belief that Romano Renucci didn't get his first goal of the season. Dylan Graham in goal made sure that any chances that came Longtown`s way were suitably dealt with.
An all round great performance from the boys - long may it last!

Carlisle City U8s 7 - 1 Warwick Wanderers

City were determined to play better football against a side who beat them convincingly at the end of last season - and they did!
With only 2 minutes on the clock Nathan Yielder headed a great ball between two defenders to man of the match Liam McNulty who turned on the ball just inside the oppositions half and ran at their keeper with the defenders unable to catch up with him. His composure would have put some Premiership players to shame as he slot the ball passed the keeper into the back of the net. With the ball not having left the centre spot for more than 30 seconds McNulty scored his second in almost similar circumstances.
Callum (Badger) Robinson was outstanding in defence again and himself scored a cracking goal when he moved up the pitch for a City corner. The ball came out to him and he hit it on the volley striking the cross bar before crashing down over the line.
Further goals from Thomas Atkinson (scored from taking a corner), Nathan Yielder, Callum Hanna and James Lee Reynolds finished the game off for the boys. It could have been more but defender Declan McArdle was unlucky after a great strike from outside the area as was Romano Renucci!

Carlisle City U8 3 v 0 Kingstown FC

Another very good team performance by the lads which saw some excellent passing and running with the ball. Callum Hanna had a great game with run after run down the right wing before providing pin point crosses into the box. At half time the score was 2-0 and with some fresh legs from Harry Parsons and Thomas Atkinson the boys kept up the pressure. Liam McNulty was back on form following a spell off with a tummy bug and was awarded man of the match for his efforts.
A third goal was scored by James Lee Reynolds bringing his total to 8 so far this season! There were strong performances from Romano Renucci, who was unlucky a couple of times not to score, and Nathan Yielder who hit the post only to see it roll across the goal mouth and strike the other post before being kicked away.
Good defending from Harry Parsons, Callum Robinson and Declan McArdle, not to mention Dylan Graham in nets, gave City their first clean sheet and meant that after 5 games played they have won 4 and drawn 1.

High Hesket U8 2 - 4 Carlisle City U8

City arguably played their best ever game on Saturday away at Hesket in terrible conditions.
After only 5 minutes they found themselves 2-0 down and finding it difficult to get into the form which has seen them unbeaten so far this season.
Everything changed just before half time when the boys began to pass the ball about and attack Heskets goal. Man of the match Nathan Yielder picked up the ball and ran into the goal area only to be pushed in the back and awarded a penalty by a young referee who had a great game himself. An excellent taken penalty by Yielder saw the ball tucked away in the corner with the keeper going in the wrong direction.
After the half time period it was all City with Yielder scoring two more goals to secure his hat trick and a fourth very good goal from James Lee Reynolds which secured a win against a team who were unbeaten since early last season and from whom City have never gained any points from!
Performances from Callum Robinson, Dylan Graham, Romano Renucci and Thomas Atkinson are worthy of mention but all in all a very very good team performance from all the boys!

Carlisle City 2 - 2 Harraby Catholic

A hard fought match between the two sides on Saturday morning saw them both come away sharing the spoils!
City pressurised Harraby`s goal from kick off but it was the away side who took advantage of their chances by securing their first goal half way through the first 15 minutes. The second half saw more chances going City's way and this time it paid off with an equaliser by Jamie Lee Reynolds. City kept up the pressure, hitting the post a couple of times, before Callum Hanna struck a cracking shot from well outside the goal area which left Harraby`s keeper no chance.
Harraby came back at City and with a minute to go they broke away from another City attack and their attacker finished the move off with a well struck goal!
A nail biting match which was enjoyed by both home and away supporters and man of the match was Callum Robinson.
