SENIOR TEAM FRIENDLY WITH CARNWATH
There has been a number of queries about the opposition for this friendly on Saturday 31st July at the Sheepmount. Carnwath AFC are members of the North & South Lanarkshire Amateur Football Association. This is a very new association, formed in December 2008. They play in the 2nd division of their league, which also has a 1st division and a premier.
We look forward to welcoming them to Carlisle on the last day of the month.
CUMBRIA WOMENS LEAGUE 2010/11
City Ladies will begin their second season in the league under the new managership of Jo McLean. There will be eight other sides in the league- Abbeytown, Newlaithes, Dalton United, Harraby, Kendal Town, Keswick, Penrith & Whitehaven reserves.

CITY BEATEN IN FRIENDLY
City's senior side were beaten 4-1 at the Sheepmount this afternoon by Redcar Athletic. In a disappointing display by City, all four goals conceded were attributable to defensive mistakes. City's goal was a 90th-minute consolation from Tom Short. The match report is here, and photos will follow later.
At the same time as this game, City's County League side played a second team from Redcar Athletic, on the all-weather pitch at the Sheepmount. This game ended 2-2 with City's goals from Callum Johnston and Matty Green. After the game, referee Peter West was very complimentary about the spirit in which both sides played.

SENIOR FRIENDLY TOMORROW
City host Redcar Athletic tomorrow in two friendly matches at the Sheepmount (k.o. 2.30). VISITORS FROM FLEETWOOD
City's under 8s will host a friendly with Fleetwood Gym FC next Saturday at the Sheepmount. The match will kick-off at 12.00 and will be followed by a game between Fleetwood and City's under 8 Reds.
HONOURS EVEN IN FIRST FRIENDLY
City's senior side drew 3-3 with Gillford Park at the Sheepmount last night. Two goals from Mike Riding in the first 20 minutes saw Gillford off to a flyer, but Lee Otway pulled a goal back with a fine header. Shortly after the break, new signing Ian Grainger levelled the scores, only for Riding to complete his hat-trick and put his side ahead 3-2. With six minutes to go, Otway curled a superb shot into the top corner to level the scores again.
The match report is here.
Stuart Kilgour is pictured going into a challenge with Gillford's Steve Skinner. More photos will follow later.

SENIOR FRIENDLY TONIGHT
City meet Gillford Park in a pre-season friendly tonight at the Sheepmount (k.o 6.30 pm). There could be appearances from new signings Lee Otway, Ian Grainger & Jack Twentyman (all once of Gillford Park). City have also recruited left-sided midfielder Liam Gray and central midfielder Robbie Mather, returning to the club after a spell away.
OLDER NEWS IS HERE
City coach Warren Steele is pictured receiving a cheque for £250 from the Cumberland Building Society.
This is a kind donation towards "Waza's Walk", when Warren travelled on foot from John O'Groats to Carlisle earlier this year. It is hoped to eventually purchase a club mini-bus with the funds raised.
Many other local firms have contributed to Waza's Walk and we will acknowledge them all in due course.
