UPDATED @ 8.00 PM
We can confirm that City's senior side have no Alliance or cup game tomorrow. The league committee have changed Harraby Catholic Club's fixture, by sending them to Murton rather than Blyth Town. City have arranged a friendly against Gretna, that will be played on the 3G surface at Newton Rigg.

UPDATED @ 3.00 PM
City's game at Walker Central is off tomorrow, due to the weather conditions. There is a possibility that City will meet Harraby Catholic Club at the Sheepmount in round 2 of the Challenge Cup. Harraby's planned league game at Blyth Town is apparently in doubt, whilst City's pitch at the Sheepmount is presently fit for play.
We will confirm as soon as we can.

NORTHERN ALLIANCE PREVIEW

City's Alliance side travel to Walker Central in the Northern Alliance tomorrow (k.o. 2.30). Walker were league champions in both of the last two seasons, and they also started this season in fine form. That form included a 2-1 win at the Sheepmount in August, when ex-professional Paul Stoneman scored a late winner. However, Walker's form has dipped recently and they have just one win in their last seven league games.
Walker have stated their intention to move up to the Northern League, if they finish in a high enough position. They will be hard pushed to do that as both Killingworth and Heaton Stannington have four games in hand with just a few points to make up.
City will also be looking to improve their recent poor away form, as they have just one point from the last four trips. Three of those games have seen City fail to score.

COUNTY LEAGUE PREVIEW
City's County League side travel to Parton United reserves tomorrow, hoping to complete a long drawn-out cup tie. The first leg of this divisional cup tie was played way back on 29th August 2009, when City won 10-1.

CUMBRIA WOMENS' LEAGUE ACTION
On Sunday at the Sheepmount, City's Ladies are due to meet Harraby Ladies (k.o 2.00). Harraby enjoyed a fine run in the Ladies FA cup earlier this season, and they are also challenging for the league title, so it will be a tough task for the City side.

NEW ROLE FOR CITY WELFARE OFFICER

City's club Welfare Officer Paul Thompson has agreed to become the first chairman of the newly-formed County Welfare Officers association. This group will include the Welfare officers from all Charter Standard clubs in the county, and should provide some support for the demanding roles they take on within their clubs.

CHALLENGE CUP OPPONENTS KNOWN

The winners of City's 2nd round Challenge cup tie with Harraby Catholic Club will progress to meet Shankhouse in the next round. The game at the Sheepmount was cancelled for the third time on Saturday, amidst some claims that Harraby's Edgehill Road ground was playable. The two teams will now try again on Saturday 6th March at 2.00 at the Sheepmount.
Shankhouse had to switch their tie to Heddon's Bullocksteads ground, but they still ran out 1-0 winners. Heddon have only won once at home all season, and that was against 2nd-division Cullercoats Custom Planet in the League Cup.

UNDER 7s BEAT THE FREEZE

City's under 7s managed to play their game at the weekend, despite the freezing conditions. They beat Edenvale Kestrels 5-0 and a match report is here.

GOOD DAY FOR UNDER 14s WHITES

City's under 14s Whites gained their first point of the season yesterday, following a 1-1 draw with Harraby Athletic, at Hammonds Park. Tommy Sendall equalised for his side with ten minutes to go, and coach Mike Keyes said "In recent weeks the boys have played really well without having that little bit of luck you always need. Today, every player had a cracking game and it was impossible to select one of them for man of the match, which was given to the whole team. Well done lads"

THANKS TO GARY SKYNER

Carlisle City enjoyed a tremendous evening on Friday, including some fantastic comedy from Gary Skyner, who has overcome huge obstacles in his life.
Gary's website is here and we will include it on our links page.

WEATHER WINS AGAIN

Only one game was played yesterday in the Northern Alliance premier division, as the frosty weather again took its toll. Murton beat Newcastle University 2-0, moving them up four places in the table, to 10th. Murton have played ten of their last thirteen games at home, meaning they will have a lot of travelling to do before the end of the season.
Northern League games at Gillford Park and Penrith were also postponed. Penrith had to move their Cumberland Cup tie with Netherhall last Wednesday, to a neutral venue at Grasslot. Penrith won 7-0 and will now meet Aspatria on Tuesday 2nd March, at Frenchfields stadium.
