GOOD WEEKEND FOR CITY GIRLS
It was a fine weekend for City's girls teams as they achieved some successful results. The under 16s beat Newlaithes Jules 6-0 with goals from Alice Simpson (2), Becky Rush, Megan Franklin, Mel Clarke and a spectacular headed own goal, from an Ashleigh Hunter cross (pictured here). Girl of the game was Megan Frankiln, for her work-rate in the middle of the pitch.
The under 14s beat Brampton 8-0, with goals from Shona Nanson (3), Megan Hurst, Emily Moran, Imogen Townsend, Alison McCorry & Molly Lytollis. Coach Duncan Adams said " The girls played well but it is always hard to play against a team that has less players than you, and the Brampton girls made it very difficult with their work-rate". All of the girls were asked to share the girl of the game award.
The under 12s enjoyed an 11-4 victory over Penrith on Saturday afternoon, although credit must be given to the Penrith side for going ahead with the game despite being short of numbers.
The under 10s travelled to Blencogo to meet Abbeytown, and they came away with a good 3-0 win.
The only side who tasted defeat were the under 14s A, who lost 3-1 at Abbeytown.

Action above v Parton
City's under 11s A have been without a match for three months, so they were delighted to have a run-out this weekend. They returned with a vengeance as they won 5-0 in a physical encounter at Abbeytown. Their goals were scored by Luke Kemp, Vincent Wong, Josh Doggart, Ben Mackenzie & Harry Ewbank.
TWO MAJOR GOALS NOT ENOUGH FOR VICTORY
Despite two fine goals from Chris Major, City's Alliance side were held to a 2-2 draw yesterday by Newcastle University, who themselves scored a stunning free-kick for their first goal. The match report is here, and photos are here.
DEBUT FOR BARNARD
City gave a debut yesterday to Dean Barnard, who has joined from Alliance Premier side Stocksfield. Dean, pictured left, has recently moved into the Carlisle area, and he was given a ten-minute run-out as substitute yesterday.

WEEKEND PREVIEW
Weather permitting, City hope to resume their Northern Alliance season tomorrow, when they entertain Newcastle University (k.o. 2.30 pm). The sides have not met so far this season, and the University are struggling in 2nd-bottom position, with just two wins from their twelve games played. The University gained their only away win to date on 31st October, the last time City played at home, when they beat Walker Central 2-1.
There are only three other planned League games tomorrow, with Harraby playing Cramlington, Shankhouse entertaining Murton, and Walker Central at home to Heddon.
In the County League, City are at home to Parton United, and a win could lift City into 2nd place in the table. The only other league game sees Hearts of Liddesdale playing Carlisle Amateurs.
On Sunday, in the Cumbria Womens league, City's Ladies travel to Kendal Wattsfield. The game will be played at Parkside Road, the home of Kendal Town.
JUNIOR LEAGUE WINS CHARTER STANDARD STATUS
The Kent Valley League, registered to the Westmorland FA, have become the first league in the county to receive FA Charter Standard status. The Longhorn youth league, covering Carlisle and district, are presently trying to achieve the Charter standard.
REPORT FROM CITY UNDER 7s REDS v HARRABY CATHOLIC CLUB
From coach Ray Swailes-
Carlisle City Reds started the game well with plenty of possession and good passing skills on show. Harraby Catholic Club defended well with their goalkeeper in fine form making a string of excellent saves from Oliver Reay and Lewis Cartwright. Just before the half time whistle Reds scored with a well worked passing move that saw Ryan Abba slot home to make it 1-0. The second half started well for the Reds with Oliver Reay scoring just after kick-off. Harraby Catholic Club were limited to break-aways but they were soon blocked by City Reds defenders Ryan Swailes and Man Of the Match, Harry Atkinson. Harraby Catholic Club scored with a great free kick to get one back and almost managed an equalizer towards the final whistle when Reds were pushing forward, but a great save from a one-on-one from Reds Keeper Aidan Halliburton prevented it. Final Score 2-1 to City reds.
A great game played by both sides and great to watch, well done everyone.
A match report from the under 7s 9-1 win at Crown Newlaithes is here.
