Last season under 10s A

POSTED 22nd APRIL 2009
At the weekend we could not stretch our win record to six in a row, as we were well beaten 5-1 by Upperby Park who I beleive are one of the top 3 sides in this age group. After a poor start conceding the 1st goal after just 26 seconds we ended the first half 3-0 down, a much improved second half saw Tony Benson scoring for City A.

Tuesday evening saw City A host Silloth, City A dominated the play right from the start but were unable to break through ending the half all square 0-0.

The second half saw City A continue where they left off and George Rosary scored for City A, unfortunately as has been the case all season they were unable to keep a clean sheet with Silloth scoring from an unstoppable shot, Final score 1-1

The return game occurred at the sheepmount tonight against Edenvale Vulures.

Smarting from the drubbing at the weekend, Edenvale appeared determined not to concede an early goal and were aggressive from the start. There were few chances in the 1st half with Luke Dickinson doing an excellent defensive job on the Edenvale striker Joe Ibbotson. City A almost snatched the lead with George Rosary coming close. H-T 0-0.
At half-time City A swapped Josh Doggart with Owen Gornall in goal.

The 2nd half the game was similar to the 1st with Edenvale preventing City A from getting in to their stride, but eventually the ball broke to Vincent Wong who stroked it home from the edge of the box. Edenvale responded well and equalized with what the City A players felt was a disputed goal, the ball bundled home after it was thought the keeper had gathered it.

With 2 minutes to go the management decided to give Josh Doggart a role up front replacing Kane Steele. Josh was able to gather the ball on the left wing and with amazing skill pulled the ball back for Vincent Wong to fire home. Straight from the kick off the final whistle went.
Final Score: City A 2 Edenvale V 1

Next game Saturday @ Sheepmount 12ko V Upperby Park

We played Edenvale Vultures at Clarks Field this morning. Vincent Wong controlled the 1st half and opened the scoring with an unstoppable shot. Typically City were not able to bask in the glory of takng the lead as they conceded within a couple of minutes from a long kick out which bounced over the defence and into the path of the Vultures stiker who slotted home.

However straight from the kick off Wong found Felix Read on the right who crossed for Kane Steele to score. From then on City were rarely troubled and Wong scored another goal from outside the area and thought he had got his hattrick with another shot but it was bundled in to the opposite corner by a Vultures defender - own goal. HT 1-4

The second half started with Kane Steele adding his second from great play from the left by Tony Benson,. City added their sixth goal from the penalty spot by Vincent Wong before Tony Benson added the 7th.

Final Score: Edenvale Vultures 1 Carlisle City A 7

We play Edenvale again on Tuesday at the Sheepmount 18:30ko

The boys recorded their second win on the bounce this morning with a comfortable 4-1 win over Stanwix 07. Within a minute Vincent Wong opened the scoring with a low drive, and the boys constanly threatened the Stanwix goal from then on, but against the run of play Stanwix equalized with a wicked deflected shot.

At half time Owen Gornall replaced Josh Doggart in goal to allow for Josh to have a rare foray outfield.

The second half started like the first half with a fine move between George Rosary and Vincent Wong putting in Kane Steele to score. However the move of the match involved Tony Benson who made a solo run down the left wing beating at least 4 Stanwix players before crossing the ball for Kane Steele to tap home. Kane Steele added his third and Citys fourth. Stanwix rarely threatened Owen in goal and it was City who maybe should have added to the score.

City A play again on Tuesday evening, 7th April, at home to Longtown 18:30 - Sheepmount

OSTED 1st APRIL 2009

The under 10s A recorded their 2nd win of the season this evening with an impressive 5-1 result against Warwick Wanderers Blue.

A totally dominant first half resulted in goals from Vincent Wong, Jamie Clark, and Harry Ewbank with Felix Read hitting the post.

In the second half the dominant display continued with the Warwick goalkeeper making some excellent saves before Vincent Wong hit the post with an unstoppable shot. Kane Steele added a fourth goal and Harry Ewbank scored his second to make 5-0. As City A pressed for more, Warwick broke away and got a consolation.

City A's next game is home to Stanwix 07 - 12ko

POSTED 1st MARCH 2009

City A probably played some of their best football this season against Hesket yesterday morning,on the notorious Armathwaite school pitch with the Hesket post and bar both being rattled, the opening goal was an own goal which was turned in by the Hesket defender when the ball came back off the bar. Kane Steele added a second goal after some good approach play. HT 0-2.

City A started the second half well but Hesket came out fighting and pulled a goal back half way through the second half, City A still enjoyed a lot of the possesion and both teams had opportunities to add to the score, however with 4 minutes to go City A contrived to gift the home team an equalizing goal following a defensive mix up resulting in an own goal. Final score 2 -2
