Fund raising

Like all voluntary organisations, Carlisle City FC need to raise funds from as many avenues as possible. Some of the fund-raising methods operated by the club are listed below-

Weather Lottery

This lottery is supported by a huge number of organisations in an attempt to raise funds for their club. Other football clubs operating the Weather lottery include Everton & Cambridge United. From as little as £1 per week, you can join the lottery, to both support Carlisle City and to give yourself the chance of winning big prizes.

The lottery works by members selecting six numbers from 0-9. Those numbers are matched with the temperature in fahrenheit recorded in six worldwide destinations- Edinburgh, Corfu, Innsbruck, Tenerife, Istanbul & Stockholm. Your numbers selected need to match with the second digit of the recorded temperatures.

From Monday to Thursday each week, members stand a daily chance of winning up to £10,000. At the time of writing, the Weather lottery has paid out more than £5 million in prize money. A total of 35% of the lottery subscriptions paid by Carlisle City supporters is paid back to the club.

SPEAKERS' EVENING-   Sponsored by Armstrong & Earl Financial Services

City are delighted to announce details of their next Speakers' evening, to be held on Friday 19th February 2010 at Upperby Institute Social Club from 7.30 pm.

Main speaker on the evening will be ex-Manchester United goalkeeper Alex Stepney. Alex appeared 539 times for United between 1966 and 1978, keeping a clean sheet on his debut against old rivals Manchester City. During his time at United, he won the European Cup, the 1st division championship, FA Cup and the 2nd division championship. He also won one cap for England.

Comedy on the evening will be supplied by Gary Skyner, voted Merseyside comic of the year on three successive occasions. Gary has also appeared on the Jonathan Ross "Big Big Talent" show.

Gary's comedy achievements are incredible when you consider that he was born with difficulties caused by the Thalidomide drug. Gary was the second-born victim of the drug's effects in the UK and he has continued to champion the cause of the remaining 400-plus victims.

Gary's website can be viewed here.

MC on 19th February will be Howard Nicholson, always guaranteed to keep the evening moving with his unique brand of humour.

Tickets for the evening are priced at £15 including a pie & peas supper. It is possible to reserve tables for six or more people.
